A leap forward
Allowing myself to unpublish my work
My dear readers,
In 2021 I started my very first Substack. After two articles, I gave up. I felt like I was sending sentences into a void, one that lacked the sense of connection I had been hoping for. That was exactly why I came back at the beginning of 2025. Along the way, I’ve met incredible people, you, both online and in real life.
Since then, this space has become a playground for me: a place to find my voice, explore the topics I want to write about, and constantly question what my niche was - only to realize I never really had one. For a long time, I found myself comparing my work to other writers’, and it often left me feeling discouraged.
Somehow that kind of evalution also led me back to myself. I’ve decided to make a radical change and allowing myself to start over. Three is a charm.
I want to tell stories. While continuing to chase my own lived experiences instead of trend cycles, algorithms and attention. I want to be deeply inspired by my own life rather than by others, and return to the art of noticing the small things. My greatest asset is probably my own perspective.
When I moved to Paris, I found myself painting fleeting moments of my everyday life through my observations, collecting fragments of a city that is constantly in motion. I hold onto them the only honest way I know how: through words. They become a record of brief conversations, changing seasons and the quiet intimacy of my ordinary days.
A practice of beginning again.
A place to tell stories.
For those who like to slow down and linger with (con)text.
I hope you’ll stay a little while.
With love from my window seat,
Lena
